Chapter Leadership Positions and Responsibilities
Creating
leaders that honor, inspire, and engage
The premise of the NSCS officer
leadership program is to challenge each NSCS officer to develop the skills and
attributes necessary to be successful in the future as a global citizen. Being an active NSCS officer is one of
the most valuable ways to build leadership abilities, expand interpersonal
relationships, extend program management skills, and develop and incorporate
integrity into your daily life.

Serve as a role model, embodying the ideals of a student leader and
engaged NSCS member
á
Take an active role in planning and holding the Induction Convocation
á
Maintain open lines of communication with fellow officers and the
chapter advisor, chapter membership, and the NSCS national office
á
Possess accurate and up-to-date knowledge of NSCS opportunities and
benefits, and be able to effectively communicate the benefits of NSCS
membership to those who ask
á
Utilize the resources at www.nscs.org, and maintain an
accurate chapter profile
á

Keep members engaged by attending regularly scheduled events
á
Network with other organizations and individuals to increase the
effectiveness of

Turn in requested information on or before stated deadlines

Fully prepare incoming officers to ensure a smooth transition for the
next year
á
Take full advantage of the opportunities to develop personally and
professionally through an NSCS leadership role
Advises and supports the efforts of the chapter,
providing consistency from year to year.
Responsibilities
á
Manage the Invitation Approval Process, including:

Signing the invitation letter
-
Supporting NSCS registration on campus
-
Mailing the Invitation Letter approval to the national office by October
1
á
Facilitate the eligible member information process so that new members
can be invited , including:
-
Sending the request to the school registrar
-
Following up with the registrar to ensure information is sent to the
national office by stated deadlines
-
Troubleshooting roadblocks in getting eligible member information
á
Receive information sent from the NSCS national office, by mail,
including but not limited to the Induction packet, NSCS banner, Integrity
banner and chapter checks
á
Store chapter items from year to year so that they do not get lost in
officer transitions, including but not limited to Induction packets and,
Integrity banners, etc.
á
Attend chapterÕs Induction Convocation
Manages
the chapterÕs overall goals and direction for the year, while maintaining
positive relations with the national office, chapter membership, and campus
community
Responsibilities
á
Attend the annual NSCS Leadership Summit/Convention
á
Organize, plan, and facilitate the growth and success of the chapter
á
Set the agenda for chapter/officer meetings
á
Communicate regularly with the chapter advisor and officers
á
Ensure that the chapter remains registered and in positive standing with
all appropriate campus offices; including being listed under student
organizations on school website
á

Hold chapter leadership accountable for chapter goals and performance,
and oversee officer transitions
á
With the chapter advisor, facilitate the member recruitment process
(Invitation Approval Packet in the fall; Eligible Member Information in the
spring)
á
Act as a liaison between the national office and local chapter
Collaborates
with the chapter President to ensure the growth and success of the chapter,
manage NSCS Signature programs and to ensure compliance with all campus and
national regulations and deadlines

Coordinates
the chapterÕs Planning to Achieve Collegiate Excellence program, maintaining
its presence as the signature NSCS service initiative
Responsibilities

Establish and maintain a relationship with partner school/organization
á
Plan regular PACE activities such as school visits, assemblies, and
March to College Day(s)
á
Recruit, train, and provide ongoing support to PACE volunteers
á
Solicit and implement feedback from program participants
á
Ensure program compliance with all legal and privacy regulations, as
stipulated by the partner organization and college/university administration
á

Keeps
an organized and detailed account of chapter activities and happenings/Oversees
chapter finances and tracks member involvement
Responsibilities
Secretary
á
Report chapter activities and member involvement to the national office,
in accordance with the STAR Program
á
Record minutes and attendance for all chapter/officer meetings; post
minutes on Facebook Fan Page
á
Maintain records for a member tracking/rewards program (if applicable)
á
Distribute all information about national opportunities to members and
officer board.
á
Facilitate all correspondence and distribution of materials to chapter
membership
á
Provides national office with relevant documents, photographs, etc.
Treasurer
á
Prepare seasonal chapter budgets, and coordinate disbursement of chapter
checks with the national office
á
Manage and oversee all financial transactions for the chapter, including
reimbursement of expenses
á
Plan all chapter fundraising activities
Maintains
detailed, multimedia records of chapterÕs service and social activities and
history to aid in publicity, recruitment, and officer transitions. Maintains the chapterÕs online presence on
chapterÕs Facebook Fan Page, also inclusive of managing chapter e-mail accounts,
web site (if applicable), and profiles in campus organization directories
Connects
members with their campus and local communities through participation in
charitable events, and NSCS-sponsored service activities
